fire
server - weekly flame-grilled goodness...
da b00m.
fs IS back up and running.. I havn't posted in the last month
or so :-\, but its all because of a good cause, fca.
The FCA
is a resource website and players league dedicated to eliminating
cheating within the CS community. The website has all kinds
of information about CS and Anti-Cheating, and is constantly
updated (usually on a daily basis).
And yeap,
you guessed it, big man TeXeL (me) runs the show =) - so far
its been fairly organised, and i hope to keep it that way.
Counter-Strike
NZ is in the process of getting users to make a CS FAQ. w00t!
- (this flame-grill aint all about CS). This is a great idea
and will help maximise the enjoyment players get out of CS,
and it also gets us more cute liddle n00bs =). Lets hope those
arrogant n00bs can learn to keep their mouths shut now...
Now for
the part that isnt about CS.
Filming for the next, as yet untitled, movie in the epic 007
James Bond series has begun, with Pierce Brosnan to fill the
role as Bond once more. This time though, he won't be driving
a BMW. Bond switches back to an Aston Martin - the V12 Vanquish
to be precise. When i browsed the Aston Martin Site (www.astonmartin.com)
and had a look at the V12 Vanquish, my jaw dropped and a few
minutes later i found a puddle of water on the floor in front
of me.
This car has the drool factor!!! Definately check it out.
I've spotted
some VERY funny SWF's recently and i'll post them as the top
article at www.fca.xs3.com later today.. i need sleep - 'tis
1:50am.
Thats
the fs flame grilled goodness for the week. Thankyou, and
Goodnight.
TeX.
fire
server - weekly flame-grilled goodness...
Waaah!
AtomicMPC's website was down for around 24hours not too long
ago. It was terrible. We were all missing out on our atomic
goodness... =) - However, fs was up all through the historical
event.
w00t! fs is getting a forum!!! All you dedicated fs'ers can
claim supreme power in the ranks of the fs forums. HOWEVER,
we do have to wait for our precious forum to arrive.
For those atomicans out there, the fs forum will have the
same basic rules and regulations.
The Internet
Censorship thingey proposed somewherez outside NZ has been
abolished (WAHOO!). Where would we be without all our R-rated
content!?
Apparently, although we don't believe it, there is a method
to crack the XBox's HDD protection. Its pretty dodgy, but
there is a minute possibility it could work. Chex0r it out
here!
Alright,
theres more flame-grilled goodness to come yet...
For those Beatles fans of you, George Harrison, the "quiet"
beatle has died. It came as a shock, and fellow Beatle, Paul
McCartney has pulled out of the Top of the Pops Hall Of Fame
to pay his respects.
Thats
this week covered. Sorry we couldn't bring you details on
how to make the flashy LED strobey thing - that may come sometime
in the future. There will be, as always, more flame-grilled
goodness next week, but for now,
Hasta la Vista!
fire
server - the grand opening!
November
19, 2001. The flame begins.
WELCOME TO FIRESERVER!
The fire network has been opened today, and will include fire
server, firestudio, and we will sponsor Clan [x3] New Zealand.
The fire network recommends Atomic Maximum Power Computing
www.atomicmpc.co.nz
for your Magazine and IRC (Austnet #atomicmpc), and for more
Atomic goodness, Atomic Waste (www.atomicwaste.net).
fire
server was first opened in July 2001, although it was just
a links page to hosted sites. The fs website is part of the
fire network, and is designed, produced and maintained by
TeXeL.

What a
week it has been! fs being launched, the great successes of
ATi's new Radeon 8500 Drivers, v7209, and the extreme power
of AMD's AthlonXP 1900+ (1.6GHz) which beats the Pentium 4
2.0GHz hands down.
Compaq and HP are on their way to a merger, which would create
one of the largest computing companies in the world, however,
both the Hewlett and Packard families are against the deal.
I've put JVC's 15-year old PC-W88U 'Boom Box' to the test!
This beasty black and chrome machine has an awesome stock
amp, driving 4 20-year old 4-way 'Hi-Fi International' speakers
(i THINK the speakers themselves are made by Wharfedale, with
the boxes being made by Philips) to the max. This combo beats
any mini-system you can buy in the stores hands-down, the
only drawback being the system has no internal CD-Player.
Next week, we'll bring you detailed instructions on how to
create your own flashing-LED kit (you can link multiple numbers
of these together to create an LED Strobe Machine =D), but
for now, Thats all folks!
